Maura & Sep’s Christmas Wedding

When Maura emailed me to ask about flowers for their Christmas do, I was pretty excited. I love this time of year and the venue, Mortons House Hotel in Corfe Castle, is really cosy; great for a winter wedding.

The order of the day was red, with a touch of white, lots of texture and a sophisticated but rustic festive look. I was happy to oblige, with gorgeous velvety roses, mini gerberas, hypericum berries and seasonal garden foliages. Here’s a few pics of the bridal party flowers and registrar’s table arrangement…

Bryony & Craig’s Relaxed and Elegant Wedding

I met Bryony and Craig at a wedding exhibition, where they fell in love with my hand-blown glass tequila bottles full of flowers… as it happened, that very thing suited the style of their big day perfectly, as they were looking for a rustic yet elegant look, with flowers arranged in a casual, ‘just-picked’ fashion.

I was given free-rein with the flowers I could use, so I picked out a variety of english-style garden flowers in shades of ivory, pink and blue, with scented phlox, dried lavender and other blooms to complement.

The bridal bouquet was bound with hessian and lace, matching the other decorations for the whole wedding. The flowers were loose and informal, providing a nice contrast to her classic gown (sorry, didn’t manage to get a pic of that, but Bryony was a vision of Audrey Hepburn-esque sophistication).

The bridesmaids carried not-too-neat mounds of white gypsophila for a simple look, complementing their silver-grey lace dresses. I loved the mix of silver tones, lace and hessian- not a combo I’ve done before, but it worked really nicely.

Best Newcomer at The Wedding Industry Awards

This time last week I was at Kingscote Barn in Gloucestershire for the South West regional final of The Wedding Industry Awards 2015. I was delighted to be shortlisted in both the Florist and Best Newcomer categories and was really just using the experience as an opportunity to celebrate my first year in business and meet some new people…

James and Stacey’s White Wedding at Athelhampton House

This happy couple were planning their wedding from Australia, so I only met them face-to-face about three weeks before the big day. I feel like the resulting flowers are proof that something beautiful can be created even when most of the consultation process happens via email!

Their chosen venue, Athelhampton House, is a wonderful place to get married… 15th Century Manor house, STUNNING giant topiary garden, beautiful conservatory space for the reception and friendly staff. Ticks every box really!

I was asked for an elegant and sophisticated scheme in white and cream (and a hint of deep burgundy for the reception), with a little movement and some foliage to give texture and keep the flowers from looking too rigid. I picked out seasonal summer dahlias and snapdragons, astrantia, roses and lisianthus, with a scattering of mixed foliage.

The Dorset Wedding Supplier Awards 2014 – I WON!!

So, it’s almost exactly one year since I hung up my florist-shop scissors decided to ‘go it alone’. It’s been an amazingly tiring but fulfilling year, and last week brought the perfect cherry on the (wedding) cake… I was delighted to be named ‘Best Wedding Florist’ at The Dorset Wedding Supplier Awards 2014! I was completely shocked as the other two finalists are ladies I have a lot of respect for professionally and I don’t know how the judges chose between us! It was really an honour to receive this award in my first year of business.

Here’s me with lovely Caroline of Amazing Face, who won the ‘Best Wedding Makeup’ category… so very well deserved (if you need wedding makeup, this lady is truly amazing- clue’s in the name!)

Caroline & Nigel’s Pretty Pastel Wedding in the New Forest

Caroline and Nigel were married on a (mostly) sunny Sunday earlier this year, at Moorhill House in Burley. The hotel has undergone a fab refurb of the function rooms and also sports a rather lovely outdoor pavilion for wedding ceremonies. It was a low-key and relaxed affair, with pretty pink, cream and peach flowers adding a touch of flowery elegance.

The beautiful bride requested a simple neat and round bouquet to complement her sleek, silky gown, so I picked out roses, hydrangeas and two varieties of dahlias (anyone who knows me knows I’m fanatical about dahlias!). Her bridesmaids carried cute smaller versions too:

Finalist – The Dorset Wedding Supplier Awards

I am so happy to announce today that I’m a finalist in the florist category of The Dorset Wedding Supplier Awards! There are some pretty fabulous wedding businesses in this county and I consider myself lucky to work alongside them. Getting recognition for my hard work this year is really rather nice 🙂

I must extend a huge thank you to Caroline Swaffield of Amazing Face Bridal Hair and Makeup who wrote the ‘fellow industry professional’ testimonial required by the judges- it was so sweet and made me cry.

I must also thank my amazing couples Sally and Tom, and Charlie and Christopher, who also wrote such lovely things about my service for the application. Those made me cry too… I’m clearly a wimp!

The result will be announced on 7th November (get to put on a nice dress for the ‘do’, yay!), though to be honest I already feel like a winner!

Ally & Steve’s Rustic Late Summer Wedding

Such a gorgeous wedding day to share today! Ally and Steve were married a few weeks ago at the beautiful St Giles House, on the Shaftesbury Estate near Wimborne. Newly renovated in an epic four-year-long project, the building is once again looking resplendent and just lovely for a stately home wedding in the countryside.

The couple actually live in the village of Wimborne St Giles, just around the corner from the venue. I know it meant a lot to them that they could celebrate their marriage in a place they love so much and they put so much thought into the whole atmosphere, with a stunning marquee reception in the grounds.

Alice & Liam’s Beachy, Sunshiny Midweek Wedding

Alice and Liam planned their wedding at short notice due to Liam’s work commitments, but they certainly didn’t compromise on their big day and looked to have a fab time at their Alderholt church ceremony and Christchurch Harbour Hotel reception.

I was more than happy to squeeze this one in amidst the very busy August calendar of weddings as the flowers were a joy… yellow and white, with black accents from the delicate ornithogalum blooms, and starfish and shells for a beachy look.

My pics of these unfortunately turned out pretty rubbish (must have been having an off day on the photo front!), so here’s a couple that the wonderful Fiona Moorey took on the day. Gorgeous!

Please go and check out more of Fiona’s lovely work here, and congratulations again to Alice and Liam. It was a pleasure working with you!
