Chris & Emily’s Lainston House Barn Wedding

I met these guys about 18 months before their wedding at a bridal exhibition in Southampton, and didn’t actually see them again till the big day itself. It didn’t seem to matter too much though, as after sending a few pictures over of the sort of things they liked, Emily and Chris just gave me free reign (within their budget of course). And it turned out wonderfully… proof if ever it was needed that you just need to find the right florist for you and then let them do their thing.

I LOVED this wedding…

The bridal bouquet was a multi-textured mix of roses, peonies, asiatic lilies, astilbe and limonium with a scattering of grey eucalyptus and lamb’s ear foliage (yay lambs ears!). It set the scheme for the whole day, and I was glad to see that Emily didn’t put it down for almost the entire ceremony!

The ceremony itself took place on the lawn outside Lainston House Hotel, a beautiful 5* gem of a place near Winchester. Now, with an outdoor ceremony in England, there is always that chance everything will need to be rushed inside at the last minute, but the wedding gods smiled on us and out popped the sunshine just before the main event…

After champagne and ice-creams on the terrace, guests were welcomed into the hotel’s stunning barn for dinner, where we’d filled jugs with flowers for the centrepieces and recycled the flowers from the ceremony, dotting them around the barn. The lighting and romantic draping set everything off really nicely (Emily tells me one of their guests thought it looked like a wedding from ‘Hello’. Result!).

Thank you Emily and Chris for trusting me with your ideas and letting me turn them into something beautiful… we enjoyed making your flowers so much! Congratulations!
