Every Wednesday I feature a fabulous wedding supplier in the south of England. From photography and cakes to event planning and entertainment, these are the people I love to work with and want to shout about!
Diana Saxby from Grace the Day is a civil celebrant who officiates wedding, vow renewal and naming ceremonies… just perfect for outdoor weddings and those in locations not suitable for a registrar-officiated ceremony. I’ve seen first-hand the effort that Diana puts into her beautifully written scripts and the service allows complete personalisation from start to finish.
What service/product do you provide?
Personalised wedding, vow renewal and baby naming ceremonies.
Describe yourself in three words:
Passionate, romantic, dedicated.
How did you come to work in weddings?
Envy! I have friends in Australia who are licensed celebrants and after seeing wonderful photos of them conducting weddings in beautiful outdoor settings and on deserted beaches, I simply wanted to do what they were doing by offering brides something totally different, memorable and personalised. So I trained in celebrancy and my feet haven’t touched the ground since. I had no idea there would be such demand for personalised ceremonies.
What do you love most about your job?
Making dreams come true. Listening to what the couple want and being a facilitator not a dictator.
What part of a wedding makes you go ‘YES!’?
When the sun shines and an outdoor wedding takes place exactly as planned, after I’ve assured my couples that the rain would never dare fall on one of my outdoor ceremonies… and it never has. Yet!
If you were getting married tomorrow, what would you wear?
Being something of a sentimental soul I still have my wedding dress from 1977, because it was particularly beautiful and has special memories associated with it. Tomorrow I would go for something very different- probably untraditional, definitely elegant, and with a twist of something personal.
