Susan and Christopher’s Garden Wedding in the New Forest

Susan and Christopher were married last Sunday at Gaddens Manor, a beautiful private home in the New Forest. The stunning house and grounds are just perfect for an outdoor ceremony and marquee reception, especially with installation of the new wedding pagoda this season! It was a pleasure to work alongside Jen from Weddings By Engagement, who manages the venue, and also great on the day to see Diana Saxby, a fab civil celebrant who led the couple through their personal ceremony.

Susan and Christopher had an open brief, requesting country-garden style flowers in pastel shades, to complement the garden and give a soft and pretty look. I chose a mixture of roses, peonies (rude not to for a May wedding!), scented stocks, nigella, matricaria daisies, lisianthus and veronica…

The amazing terraced garden was so lovely to dress up for the ceremony. Large urns full of flowers, trailing arrangements on the pagoda and glass jars hung from the chairs created a pretty and coordinated look…

Susan had collected a beautiful selection of vintage china cake stands which I filled with flowers for some of the tables in the marquee.

The other tables were dressed with a selection of glass bottles and jars of flowers for an informal look…

One of my favourite parts of the wedding was the stunning cake. I took a secret call from Susan’s mum a week before the wedding, requesting some flowers for the three rustic iced cakes; a lovely surprise for the couple. Each was topped with a mound of fresh flowers. I also provided a vase for each of the bouquets to sit in on the cake table- always a good idea to have somewhere to display them after the ceremony!

Lots more mini bottle arrangements of flowers were dotted around the venue- and guests were encouraged to take one home with them at the end of the evening. Such a nice idea…

I certainly hope the newlyweds were as happy with their flowers as I was creating them. It was a fabulous day- beautiful bride, handsome groom and SUNSHINE after a whole week of rain- phew! Congratulations all round 🙂
